Career Consulting:
Assessment Instrument Overview

 Strong Interest Inventory

The Strong Interest Inventory is a solid, dependable career planning tool. It measures your interests in a broad range of occupations, work activities, leisure activities and school subjects. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory are often used in conjunction with each other.

The Strong Interest Inventory provides personalized information to students about their personal interests and strengths. In addition, it helps them to identify career fields for consideration.

 Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator instrument is the most widely used personality assessment tool in the world.

The focus of the Myers-Briggs Indicator is to show how you like to look at things and how you like to make decisions. Knowing your own preferences can help you understand where your special strengths are, what kinds of work you might enjoy and to how people with different preferences can relate to each other while being valuable in society.

 Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence indicators can be predictors of success and satisfaction in life. Areas that are explored and evaluated include: self-awareness, assertiveness, self-esteem, and independence.

Other facets that can be addressed are stress management and the ability to cope with issues in a changing environment.

 Learning Type Measure

The Learning Type Measure is designed to help students understand and identify different learning styles. This Measure helps you answer the question:

Are you a visual, auditory or hands-on learner?

Knowing your learning style will provide great insight in how to study and be successful in college.
